WORD TO HIP-HOP, I mean COUNTRY RAP TUNES. Whatever you want to call it, the new UGK classic is finally out there in them stores. Been waiting a long time for this. ALL THESE PUSSY ASS MOTHERFUCKERS WITH THEY FANGAZ IN THEY BOOTYHOLES NEED TO RECOGNIZE AND REALIZE THE REAL DEAL! So says me, and Pimp C I'm pretty sure.
Bun B however would like to thank you all for all the support, graciously.
(Will Bun B make it to Damage Control tomorrow? Will Pimp C?)
ALSO CHECK OUT UGK ON THE COVER OF THE ARTS SECTION OF THE NEW YORK TIMES. Houston, lets not forget that Kelefa Sanneh, the writer of this piece, is one of the people who helped set off this whole Houston revolution, at least in the press, a few years ago. Word to K, that's my dude! Probably have to login to read it, but you should do that now and again anyway.
My favorite cuts are: "Take the Hood Back" (Word to Mddl Fngz), "Next Up," "How Long Can It Last," "Still Ridin' Dirty," "Shattered Dreams," and "Real Women."
And pretty much everything else on there. Thanks to Devin and UGK I'm still here listening.
And I'll be observing all the goings on in Miami this weekend at the Ozone Awards with mi compadres Rapid Ric, DJ Chill, and well, pretty much everybody. Check it out below for the schedule of events. I'm on the MEDIA PANEL on Saturday, and it's goin' down.

Also, SXSW 2008 is open for business. You can apply for a showcase online now BUT YOU CAN'T CALL ME AND ASK ME ANYTHING ABOUT IT CUZ I DONT HAVE TIME FOR THAT SHIT AND IT DOESN'T HAPPEN TILL MARCH.
That being said if you don't apply, you won't get on. There will be no favors if I am still booking the hip hop for this next year. I'm not sure where I'll be or what I'll be doing around then anyway. SO DO NOT ASK ME, EVERYTHING IS ONLINE.
SXSW 2008 Open For Business
Austin, Texas - August 7, 2007 - The twenty-second South By Southwest (SXSW)
Music and Media Conference and Festival is now open for business. You may
register, make a hotel request, and apply for a music festival showcase
slot. SXSW Music takes place March 12 - 16, 2008 in Austin, Texas. A keynote
address anchors four days of panels, interviews, workshops, peer meetings
and the trade show exhibition at the Austin Convention Center. Daytime
events flow into the world-renowned music festival, which showcases over
1000 acts on stages throughout downtown Austin.
Registration for SXSW Music allows you access to all daytime events at the
Austin Convention Center, entry into official SXSW day parties, and priority
access into all SXSW nighttime showcases. In addition, registration will
allow you to access the 2008 Online Registrants Directory, a great tool to
aid in planning your SXSW meetings. New for the 2008 conference are the SXSW
Quickies - informal forums in which registrants will have a series of short
discussions in small groups led by music professionals from all corners of
the business. Designed to give increased access to a number of our speakers,
the Quickies will run every morning from Wednesday through Saturday, and
will offer a fresh opportunity to learn and share experience. Click on
http://sxsw.com to learn more and to register to attend.
SXSW is now accepting showcase applications for music acts to perform at the
2008 music festival. This year you have a choice of two ways to apply - both
online to save you the trek to the post office. Submit your online
application from our website
http://2008.sxsw.com/music/festival/apply_to_showcase/ or apply through
Sonicbids http://www.sonicbids.com/clients/sxsw/sxsw_landing.htm. The
deadlines are October 26, 2007 for international artists and November 9,
2007 for artists in the USA. The fees are $20 for early submissions and $30
for applications submitted after October 5, 2007.
For more information on every aspect of SXSW, please go to http://sxsw.com.
Don't bother me about this. I'm serious. Just giving you a heads up.
